Lecturing at the summer school on "Indigenous Rights, Responsibilities and Ethics"!
On 22-26
January 2024, the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) hosted the summer
school on "Indigenous Rights, Responsibilities and Ethics". The
summer school is organized as part of the project "Indigenous Cultures in
Evolution: Governing Rights and Responsibilities through Sustainable Law and
Ethics (INCLUSION)" funded by the National Agency for Higher Education
(Edu-Fi) of Finland. The School was taught by renowned professors from the
PUCP, as well as the University of Helsinki and the University of Lapland. A
total of forty students, including twelve Finnish students and students from
Indigenous communities, attended the week-long summer school. While most
students were from the discipline of law, students from a number of other
disciplines, such as Indigenous studies, were represented. The School was
inaugurated by the Head of the Department of Law of the PUCP, joined by the ambassador
of Finland in Peru Mr. Antti Rytövuori and several Faculty members from the
PUCP. Prof. Kamrul Hossain from the University of Lapland has the honor of
participating as an invited expert to the School, where he lectured on Indigenous
peoples' rights to culture and cultural identity. During the event, Prof.
Hossain also spoke as an invited guest to the Peruvian Ministry of Culture in
Lima to an audience composed primarily of the Peruvian government.
