Prof. Kamrul Hossain in UArctic Leadership Conference!
The UArctic Chair in Arctic Legal Research and Education Prof. Kamrul Hossain, has attended the Arctic Thematic Networks and UArctic Institutes Leadership Conference and the UArctic Chairs’ meeting held at the University of St Andrews, Scotland on 12-14 May 2022. The conference brought around fifty participants in the face-to-face meetings. The participants include leaders of the UArctic Thematic Networks and Institutes, UArctic Chairs in different disciplines, UArctic administrators and fund-raising experts. In addition, several Thematic Network leaders and two UArctic Chairs joined online. The event included presentations of activities, projects, and plans of the Thematic Networks and the Chairs, followed by discussions and dialogues aiming to enhance interactions and collaboration. A session was dedicated to small group discussions on a number of thematic areas, including significant challenges facing the Arctic and possible options for seeking solutions by bringing the UArctic and its efforts into a partnership role. The event also attracted several high-profile local participants from the leadership of the University of St Andrews and the Scottish government, including the minister of environment. The dialogues and lively discussions amongst the participants, both in formal and informal settings during the event, made it an enjoyable and a successful collaborative and partnership effort to advance the UArctic’s work further toward continuing knowledge-building, sharing, disseminating and interacting with academics, communities, Indigenous peoples of the Arctic and policy-level stakeholders.
