Stoltenberg Seminar 2021, Kirkenes, Norway!
On 22 - 23 September 2021, the Norwegian Barents Secretariat and the UiT Norges arktiske universitet (UiT- the Arctic University of Norwary) jointly organized the Stoltenberg Seminar 2021 in Samovar Theatre, Kirkenes, Norway. The Stoltenberg Seminar 2021 is a forum to bring together academicians, researchers, artists, interns, and professionals to discuss ideas and diverse topics on the next generation of northern arts. This year the Stoltenberg Seminar focused on three themes: place and art, the cross border art, and the art of the Northern area perspective. Twelve papers were presented at this seminar by researchers of Art and Design. Fifty-six participants took part in this seminar. Professor Kamrul Hossain, Director, Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law of Arctic Centre and Syed Musa Kajim Nuri, a Ph.D. Researcher from the University of Lapland, joined the seminar. In addition to participation in the seminar, Prof. Hossain and Researcher Nuri have held several networking meetings with scholars and staff of the Barents Secretariat and the UiT Arctic University of Norway. These meetings were held, among others, with Dr. Aileen A. EspÃritu, a researcher at the Barents Institute and the lead of Thematic Network on the Arctic in Asia and Asia in the Arctic, Rune Sundelin, Section Chief, Management in Alta Campus of the UiT, Franziska Kraiczy a practitioner of Art and Design in Norway, and with Intern of the Barren Secretariat, Elise Nyborg. The seminar and the networking events were very fruitful to develop further an intensive collaboration in the future.
