Forthcoming Book: Digitalisation and Human Security!

The book entitled Digitalisation and Human Security A Multi-Disciplinary Approach to Cybersecurity in the European High North is a volume edited by Mirva Salminen, Gerald Zojer and Kamrul Hossain, will be released in September 2020. The Palgrave Macmillan - a well renowned publishing house publishes the book in its New Security Challenges series. This book constructs a multidisciplinary approach to human security questions related to digitalisation in the European High North. It challenges the mainstream conceptualisation of cybersecurity and reconstructs it with the human being as the referent object of security. The book depicts and analyses both positive (enabling) and negative (threatening) potentials in the regional digital development with focus on citizens and communities in the region to gain a voice in matters related to cybersecurity. The book is one of the outputs of the three-year run research project “Enablement besides Constraints: Human Security and a Cyber Multi-disciplinary Framework in the European High North (ECoHuCy)” funded by the NordForsk, and hosted at the Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law (NIEM) at the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland.
